What is Cloud?

Cloud or cloud computing is a model for enabling ubiquitous, convenient, on-demand network access to a shared pool of configurable computing resources (the examples are networks, servers, storage, applications, and services) that can be rapidly provisioned and released with minimal management effort or service provider interaction. In other words, it is digital data management to store data (Dropbox, Google Drive), backup data (Google Drive), host, compute (AWS, Azure, GCP), and save or stream videos/movies (Netflix).

Who uses Cloud?

Almost every single person uses Cloud. Data says that the usage today, 90% companies are on the cloud, 95 million photos are uploaded to Instagram every single day, 243.000 photos are uploaded on Facebook per minute, more than 1 million users on AWS (Amazon Web Service), and 500 million users are on Dropbox.

How to make Cloud safe?

1. Check your account whether it has been compromised or not? Then type https://haveibeenpwned.com. How many of you have been pwned? It is better to change the password regularly to keep your account and data secured.

2. If your account has been exposed to breach data, there are some things to do.

•  Back up data in external storage (hard disk or flash).
•  Choosing a unique password so that hackers find it difficult to enter your account.
•  Cautious of free WiFi networks.
•  Check your bank and credit accounts regularly because bank accounts can be the first warning if there is anything suspicious.
•  Encryption.

Abigail highlighted some points about what she does and how to keep Cloud safe.

•  In Cyber Security as a growing demand nowadays, she learns about coding, programming, Java, but mostly deal with data analytic. She usually put the data into machine learning and analyzes it. Then, you can understand what is the info that is coming in.
•  Working in male majority sectors as a female can bring different perspectives from cultural backgrounds, from different experiences, look from different angles. Maintain a proper manner because women can show more empathy.

She also concluded that to secure your information in the cloud, it is important to :

•  Ensure your account is not breached.
•  Ensure you use a strong and unique password.
•  Update your operating system, software, application regularly.
•  Do not store sensitive information.
